A few weeks ago I bought a Ebonite Nitro from Dunhams Sporting Goods in town. It took 2 weeks to get it drilled, apparently there is only one guy who can use a drill press. I took it to our local bowl for kids sake thing and it was HORRIBLE, then i noticed why, my thumb did not go in it all the way. So I promtly took it back and asked to have it drilled deeper. After another week, with the ball sitting in the same spot i left it, I took it home and decided to do it myself. A spade bit, dremel and an hour later, i had it perfect.
Today, my wife and I went to a bowling center in the town next to us after going shopping. As noted in my last blog post, my highest game was a 200 which I bowled last Wednesday with my Brunswick Axis I've had for so long I dont actually know how long I have had it. I like my Axis, I have had a lot of luck with it and some wicked pin action from it. I bought the new one because the Axis has a super slick/shiny cover and the finger holes are a tick small. The new Nitro has proper sized holes and a sanded finish. To get to my point, my first real game with it, i bowled a 198, I couldnt believe it, not only was i really consistant, but the ball actually began to hook near the end and enter the pocket a tad better than the Axis. The second game, not so good, but that was my fault, not the balls, i missed my target a lot and missed some multi-pin spares, but all in all, this new ball is great.
